How long do royal navy nuclear attack submarines stay submerged?

I join the navy in November as a submariner and am wondering how long SSN submarines stay submerged and how often do you get to visit foreign ports? I know the times will vary depending on the operations and so but just a rough idea of the times would help me out alot. Cheers in advance :)
