Need some help!! Ladies chime in!!?

So I think I found a girl that can be a potential love. I am old enough and mature enough to have figured this out. This isn't lust or my 9th grade crush type of love, it's for real. After being friends for a long time I built feelings for her and finally admitted those feelings. She just came out of a long long relationship and it ended abruptly and pretty bad. I wasn't sure if I should tell her or not but I told her I had feelings for her and what not. She said she is willing to try us out. So after a few weeks I sensed something was wrong so I tried to talk with her. She said it's nothing to do with me , but she is very confused with her life right now and needs to be single for awhile. I asked if she still had feelings for the ex and she said its nothing like that. So what advice can you give me? Do I just wait and be patient and hang on the sidelines while she finds herself? Anyone ever been in a similar situation?
